Frequently asked Questions

How do I register?

Because MyJob.ie is different from other employment sites, the registration process is also different, and can be a little confusing. First we ask you for your skills, then we search for jobs, then we ask for your personal details.

Here's a step-by-step registration guide:

  1. On your first visit to myjob.ie, click on 'Is this your first visit?'
  2. Click 'looking for work'
  3. Fill in the types and locations of vacancies you are interested in. Click "Continue".
  4. You will be asked about your skills. Enter all the skills which you have AND are willing to use in employment.
  5. Finally, you are shown a list of appropriate jobs, sorted in order of suitability, which you can express interest in, or apply for.
  6. To express an interest in a vacancy, click on the vacancy to view its details. Click on "Apply" if you want the job, or "More information" if the job description doesn't contain enough information for you to decide.
  7. After you have applied for jobs, asked for more details about jobs, or even if no jobs are found, click on "Click here to register".
  8. MyJob.ie will ask you for your personal details and CV, and will send you a user id and a password.
  9. With this user id and password, you can log into the site where you can view the status of your job applications and apply for new vacancies when they are posted.

Your skills list doesn't have one of my skills on it!

Sorry, but if the skill isn't listed, there is no vacancy on the database that requires that skill. Don't worry about it. Enter all your other skills, and make sure the unlisted skill is in your CV.

The number of possible skills in the world is huge. We cannot provide you with a lists of every possible skill and let you choose your own - it would take too long for you to hunt down your skills in the list, and it would take us too long to create the list.

MyJob.ie solves the problem by leaving the skill creation process to the employer. When a vacancy is created, an employer builds a vacancy from the list of skills, but is also allowed to create new skills to suit his vacancy. Therefore, the only skills you see are skills which employers have asked for. If an employer has not yet asked for one of the skills that you possess, then you cannot claim that skill.

What will you do with my personal details? What is your privacy policy?

MyJob.ie uses your registration information only for the following purposes:

  • Sending information to you which you requested on your registration form.
  • For candidates, if you set your visibility to Minimum, employers will only see a general anonymous profile of you. Your personal information and c.v. will not be made available to employers. Setting your profile visibility to Medium will allow Recruitment Agencies access to your personal profile, including contact information and c.v. Maximum visibility will permit all registered employers access.
  • For employers, we inform candidates of your company name and logo on those vacancies where you click the "public" or "registered only" checkbox.

See our privacy policy for more information.

I don't want Company X to know that I am looking for work.

MyJob.ie understands that you may wish to hide your activities from one or more companies.

Your personal details will not be made available to employers using MyJob.ie. They will only see a general profile. If you request more information about a vacancy, the employer will not see your name or your email address.
