Job description |
The Innovation Center is a highly motivated team based at a number of sites around the world. Our mission is to explore new technologies; generate new concepts; and deliver prototypes that we can put in the hands of our partners and customers. We strive to push the state of the art in information processing and business intelligence, and we look for practical ways that emerging technologies can empower users.
We are seeking strong engineers who are passionate about technology and motivated to deliver breakthrough solutions. Your primary responsibility as an “SAP BusinessObjects Innovation Center Senior Development Engineer” will be to generate new ideas, translate concepts and innovative ideas into prototypes and ship software.
Tasks:
Delivery & Development
- Incubate new ideas
- Define, design & develop proof of concepts to demonstrate new functionality; translate ambiguous ideas into compelling features
- Define key scenarios and requirements for projects
- Participate in all phases of development, including: prototyping, designing, coding, testing and rollout
- Deliver the appropriate architectural and technical documentation required to handover prototype to the main engineering divisions
- Prepare patent applications to describe and protect key innovations
Communication
- Express new ideas and present them
- Communicate proactively, precisely & accurately, supporting team members
- Interact with colleagues in an international environment
- Ensure the 2 way streets between mgt and dev
Opportunities

Requirements:
- 6 to 10 years experience in the software development industry
- Broad knowledge of the Business Objects product line or BI space is a strong plus
- Broad knowledge of the SAP product line is a strong plus
- Ability to develop highly complex software components mixing various technologies
- Good communication skills (listening, presenting, writing, formal and informal)
- Self-motivated, curious, open minded, resourceful and flexible with the ability to learn quickly
- Strong appetite to learn emerging technologies
- Proficiency in several of the following languages: Java, JavaScript, JSP, C++, C#, ASP.NET, Flex, Adobe AIR, Silverlight, HTML5.0, REST
- Awareness of the major RDBMS products such as Oracle, IBM DB2, Microsoft SQL Server
- Knowledge of other technologies is an asset, including web browsers, web servers, HTML, XML, SOAP, OLAP, ODBC, Windows and Unix
- Experience of IP processes and patents a strong plus
