After the interview
Despite whether or not you felt your interview was successful, please call your recruiter soon after.
On the most basic end of the scale, this is a courtesy on your behalf showing that you care enough about the job to keep your recruiter informed, enabling the recruiter to plan ahead his conversations to your potential employer based on your interview thus helping him gain valuable feedback from the potential employer to pass onto you the candidate.
Thank all concerned
You may find it worth sending a polite thank you note/letter to the potential employer or your recruiter. These people have just given up a large portion of their time to give you the opportunity to make your case in person. Be sure to thank all concerned for their time.
Be personal. Be brief, polite and to the point. Be sure to address the note to the name of the person with whom you dealt. If you were, for example, interviewed by two people, address the note to your main interviewer thanking them. Mention your continuing enthusiasm for the position.
If you feel a note isn't appropriate then a phone call or email may be sufficient.
Mention further contact, if you feel the interview went well.
