Senior Financial Accountant / Group Financial Controller

Our client is a well-established and highly successful management company operating almost 20 Hotels throughout Ireland. Due to continued growth and on boarding of new properties they now have a vacancy for a Financial Controller working at Head Office with responsibility for several properties.

Position Summary

You will be employed primarily as Group Financial Controller, reporting directly to the Finance Director.

The successful candidate will have a commercial background and will be responsible for taking a leading role in the day to day management of the Group finance function.

Basic Responsibilities and Duties

  • Consolidate daily pick-up reports, identify anomalies and deviations from budgets
  • Deliver timely and accurate reports detailing property performance for stakeholders
  • Review and investigate any deviations from expectations
  • Cash Flow Management
  • Plan and implement procedures and systems
  • Prepare, deliver and/or present budgets and financial forecasts
  • Handle day to day routine tasks and communicate with clients as required
  • Ensure the finance teams prepare and maintain Balance Sheet Reconciliation
  • Delegate tasks to free up time to concentrate on value-added responsibilities and duties

Value-Added Responsibilities and Duties

  • Work closely with the Finance Director and all company executives
  • Visit properties to meet with senior management at regular performance reviews
  • Undertake strategic analysis and feasibility studies of business opportunities as they arise
  • Liaise directly with key stakeholders, including owners, banks, solicitors, insurers, underwriters and auditors
  • Recognise trends, evaluate scenarios and bring recommendations forward
  • Hire, train and develop assigned employees
  • Improve controls and efficiencies through efficient use of human and technological resources
  • Work with the Finance Director to deliver specific growth-orientated objectives


Specific job knowledge, skill and ability

  • Fully qualifies ACA or ACCA with relevant industry experience
  • Well-presented and commercially orientated - ability to think logically and make sound, ethical decisions
  • Confidence to participate in meetings, challenge assertions as may be necessary
  • Work efficiently / Time management - must be able to deliver on the above during reasonable working hours
  • Project a healthy balance of authority and respect
  • Ability to read, write and speak English effectively
  • Mastery of computer fundamentals, including hotel industry systems and standard desktop software (competency in word and excel is a must)
