Our client, a multinational software solutions company is looking to recruit an experienced and ambitious Software Engineering Team Lead to join their team based in Donegal.

Job Profile

Overall responsibility for engineering team producing high quality software within the company’s software suite. Responsible for creating software and unit test cases for assigned products, in a high-paced environment. Possesses solid working knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within test-driven, agile software development. Can provide product area expertise and guidance to QA, doc, P&S, architecture and support team members globally.

  • Day to day management of the Agile SCRUM team.
  • Development of code as required within agile tasks.
  • Work with QA Team lead to Provide unit test plan for QA and / or Test coverage for product area coded via automation.
  • Engages in research of new technologies & architectures to improve product.
  • Work independently and with a remote peer group.
  • Contributes to definition of component and product architecture.
  • Respond to, troubleshoot and analyze any Support queries or defects that are reported from tier3 or other escalated items as required.
  • Organise daily stand-ups, sprint planning meetings and retrospectives.
  • Develop high quality, re usable source code. Ensure code is developed, reviewed, and maintained within company software guidelines.
  • Develop test harnesses where possible to enhance quality of engineering output.
  • Works on complex projects and has latitude for judgment on own experience and expertise.
  • Contributes to definition of component and product architecture.
  • Assists less experienced peers.
·         Provide effective communication with geographically distributed team members.
  • Escalate urgent issues to quality assurance management.
  • Participates in design and sprint planning reviews.
  • Development and management of automated build and deployment systems.
  • Contribute to or lead customer Support issue resolution and / or reviews.
  • Responsible for mentoring / managing engineering team members, performance evaluation and annual reviews.

Candidate profile

  • BSc in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent degree is essential.
  • Higher postgraduate degree in relevant discipline is desired.
  • Solid understanding of SCRUM or other Agile methodology is essential.
  • Experience of leading agile teams within the software industry is essential.
  • 9+ years’ experience in design and programming large scale applications deployed in a clustered environment is essential.
  • Extensive working knowledge of engineering concepts, languages and platforms associated with C#/ Dot net 4.5 & above is essential.
  • Extensive working knowledge of engineering concepts, languages and platforms associated with Microsoft SQL Server is essential.
  • Working knowledge of engineering concepts, languages or platforms, specialising in C++ is desirable.
  • Extensive working knowledge of Devops including Jenkins, gradle, chocolatey, or similar is desirable
  • Ability to design and architect tasks within new development plans is essential.
  • Ability to work independently and within agile development environment is essential.
  • Ability to work in a global environment and interface with remote groups is essential.
  • Ability to contribute to a cross-functional team in daily stand-ups, sprint planning meetings and retrospectives is essential.
  • Experience using defect tracking tool and quality/test management tool is desirable.
  • Proven experience in software development of complex multi-tiered enterprise systems is essential
  • Experience in all phases of the software development life cycle is essential
  • Must have troubleshooting skills and be able to perform root cause analysis.
  • Should be proficient in installing and maintaining development environments, including installations of operating systems.
  • Experience with estimating engineering effort, prioritizing tasks, and capable of handling both standard planned projects and ad hoc support issues is essential.
  • Writing and/or executing automation experience is desired.
